The Dow industrial average and S&P index could not hold onto gains and are closing the day lower.
The S&P index is closing below its 200 day moving average for the 2nd consecutive day. The 200-day moving average comes in at 4235.17. The index is closing at 4215.00.
Intraday, the price did rebound back above that moving average level reaching a high at 4255.84, but the end-of-day selling pushed the price back into negative territory and below that key moving average level.
Meanwhile, the NASDAQ index held onto a gain at the close, snapping its 4-day losing streak. However, the index gave up a 159.42 point rise at session highs to close up by only 34 points on the day.
