Australian Treasurer Chalmers says inflation is moderating overall, it is proving to be more persistent here in Australia.
He’s half right.
In the data released earlier all three measures of inflation were above expectation an above the prior reading.
Australian Q3 2023 Headline CPI +1.2% q/q (vs. 1.1% expected)
So its not moderating.
But yeah, it is persistent. Half marks for Mr. C.
